Collegium Musicum has a choir of around 100 members. During the rehearsals we work on music from the great War Requiem of Britten to the intimate Ave Maris Stella of Bardos, and Chichester Psalms of Bernstein to the Quatre motets pour le temps de noël of Poulenc. You can find more examples on the concert page. Each semester this results in two concerts, on which we usually perform a large piece with orchestral accompaniment and a few smaller a cappella pieces.
In June 2020 we perform the four works of Verdi Quattro pezzi sacri with the orchestra: Ave Maria, Stabat Mater, Laudi alla Vergine Maria and Te Deum.
In December 2020 we will give a concert on the theme of death. With the orchestra we perform Nänie van Brahms and Toward the unknown region by Vaughan Williams. The orchestra will play the Island of the Dead by Rachmaninoff and Danse macabre by Camille Saint-Saëns.
Would you like to sing along with us? We have open rehearsals every first three weeks of September and January. Do you have any questions or would you like to come by earlier? Send an e-mail to the Commissaire Koor: [email protected]
The choir rehearses every Monday evening from 8.00 pm to 10.30 pm. The rehearsals are in the Lipsius building of Leiden University, room 2.33. Look on the contact page for how to get here. Due to corona, we don’t know where we’ll rehearse this year. If you want to stay updated, please send an email to [email protected]! In addition to the normal rehearsals, there is a rehearsal weekend every semester. This weekend is on the 13th and 14th of June 2020.
