Join us!

In Autumn of 2025, Collegium Musicum will perform a neoclassissistic programme, with the Ninth Symphony by Shostakovich, the Divertissement by Prokofiev, Three part songs by Suk and the Psalmus Hungaricus by Kodaly. After that, for the Spring semester of 2026, we will work on the Spring Symphony by Britten and the Planets by Holst for our amazing lustrum concerts! Will you be joining us for these programmes?

There are vacancies for flute, clarinet, bassoon, horn, bass trombone, tuba, percussion, violin, viola, cello, double bass and singers of all voice groups.

Open rehearsals

At the start of each semester, Collegium Musicum organises a series of open rehearsals where everyone who’s interested can play or sing along with the orchestra or choir in order to get a feel for what it’s like to be a member of CM. The next open rehearsals will be on 1 and 8 September (choir and orchestra) and 15 September (choir only).

Curious? Keep an eye on this page or our social media for more information, or fill in the form below. If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to send us an email at [email protected] (orchestra) or [email protected] (choir). See you in September!

For example at an introduction week, via friends/family, via social media, etc.

Membership

As a member of CM, you are expected to attend the weekly rehearsals, which take place on Monday evenings (19:30 – 22:30 for the orchestra, 20:00 – 22:30 for the choir), in Leiden University’s Lipsius building. Additionally, CM offers many social activities, but these are not obligatory.

If you wish to join the orchestra, you will be asked to take part in a short informal audition where we ask you to play a piece of your own choice and an excerpt from a large symphonic work, selected by the conductor. There are no auditions for joining the choir, only a brief voice check to determine which voice group best suits you. Membership fees currently amount to €75 per semester.

Wish to become a member?

Already keen to join Collegium Musicum? That’s great! Come along to one of our open rehearsals at the start of the semester. Here you will be able to sign up to become a member. If you’re already certain that you want to join the orchestra, you can also fill in the audition form directly.

If you wish to join CM without attending an open rehearsal, feel free to email us at [email protected].
